Training is important in today's technical world, whether you are looking to add skills to your repetoire or trying to get into an entirely new field. With the current range of online classes available, you can work toward your goals on your own time, without interruptting your normal life.

Here are a few of the training opportunities that we have found:

W3Schools - http://www.w3schools.com - Free classes put together by the Refsnes Data company, a Norwegian software development and consulting company focusing on internet database applications and data-warehousing.

BrainBench - http://www.brainbench.com - Brainbench was founded in January 1998, and is now the world's most respected online skills measurement authority. For businesses and individuals, Brainbench provides online assessment and certification of over 450 different skills that drive business success today. They have partnered with companies such as Ford Motor Company, H&R Block, JP Morgan, and Wells Fargo, and are rapidly becoming the number one professional technology testing organization on the net.

New Horizons - http://www.newhorizons.com - Providing a mixture of in-class and online technology courses, New Horizons is a well-respected organization with offices in almost everyone's local area.

Free-Ed.net - http://www.free-ed.net - While it may not give you a certification or a college degree, Free-Ed.net does provide courses in a number of fields that may help you better understand the world you live in. Several of the courses are used by colleges for their online material, and a full catalog of classes is available at http://www.free-ed.net/catalog.

Have you checked out your local colleges? Most colleges offer courses online, and as the technology gets more accepted you will see more and more degree completion programs becoming available. Right now I am finishing my Associates in Applied Science degree, and I have only had to take a few courses on campus. I will be moving into an online degree completion program for my Bachelors, and I have friends currently working on their Master's degree online.

The opportunities are out there - you just need to look for them.
